| The Suburban
Southwest area covers a diverse group neighborhoods in southwest
Austin, south of US 290 and west of IH 35. They include Circle
C, Legend Oaks, Shady Hollow, Western Oaks, Sendera, Arroyo
Doble, Westcreek, Oak Parke, Lewis Mountain, Granada Hills,
Bear Creek Oaks, and others. Each neighborhood has its own unique
style and character. Homes were mostly built from the 1970's-
to brand new. Circle C Ranch is well known as one of the best
planned developments in Austin with neighborhood elementary
school, community center, soccer fields, pool, parks and golf
course.
Suburban Southwest is a well established area with some new
growth. Growth has been limited because it is situated over
the environmentally sensitive Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone.
Lots are mostly between 1/6 - 1/4 acre and are generally flat.
Trees are plentiful and mature. This area is fully developed
with nearby churches, shopping centers and restaurants. The
overall ambience is of a close-in, established suburban area
with affordable to upscale homes.
The school district for this area is Austin ISD, with Bowie
and Akin High Schools. The 20 minute drive to downtown is
an important part of the appeal of the area. Loop 1 gives
good access to north Austin.
