| West of
Austin, wouth of Barton Creek and north of US Hwy 290 several
unique communities are nestled in the scenic hill country. These
include the group of neighborhoods known as "Barton Creek"
which surround the Barton Creek Country Club and Resort. In
addition there is Travis Country, Travis Country West, Regents
Hills, Covenant Estates, Scenic Brook and others.
In the "Barton Creek" neighborhoods, prices start
at about $600K. Homes range from the early 1990's to brand
new. There is new construction in this area. Lots mostly vary
between .25 to 3 acres, with hill country terrain. There are
several golf courses in the area with homes on the courses.
Most of the sections within the Barton Creek area are gated.
Along Southwest Parkway are the established Travis Country
neighborhood and the newer Travis Country West. Both of these
offer mid priced homes with great close-in locations. Regents
Hills and Covenant Estates are newer developments. Scenic
Brook is an older, more affordable neighborhood within the
Suburban West area.
The school district for this area is Austin ISD, with Austin
and Akin High Schools serving the area. There are several
private schools in this area. St. Gabriel's Elementary and
St. Michael's High are located within the Barton Creek area.
St. Andrews has built a high school on Southwest Parkway nearby.
Also nearby is Regents School. The 20 minute drive to downtown
is an important part of the appeal of the area.
